Changeable, some drier, colder periods

The general thrust of our previous forecasts appears to be holding, although as ever, the detail is proving to be a problem.

A change to more unsettled conditions will be underway early in the forecast periods and this should persist through to the latter stages of October.

A brief period of more settled and colder weather is likely at the beginning of November as high pressure builds back across the United Kingdom. How persistent this anticyclone will be is debatable at the moment, however indications are that it won't be protracted and the period up to mid-November looks mainly unsettled, often being quite windy and wet.
