The Month Ahead
30 Day Outlook October

Changeable start, then fair from early-mid October

Our previous forecasts had indicated that although genrally unsettled, there would probably be a general rise in pressure and improvement in the weather around the third week of September.

Our pattern forecast had indicated that this anticyclone would be brief, although current models suggest that a longer and more prolonged high pressure period is now possible.

At this stage we believe that our forecast pattern may be more reliable and that both the global models and our forecast method is overplaying the influence of the high pressure.

Therefore we think that although the immediate outlook is for changeable conditions to continue, southern parts of the UK and Ireland will see high pressure weather increasing for a time, this then extending to the whole of the UK and Ireland.

The basic outlook for the whole forecast period looks changeable once more, positively autumnal at times!
