May Outlook

Southern Britain, briefly, fine and settled. Cool and changeable end to April everywhere. Remaining unsettled through early May, but with temperatures returning closer to average. Becoming drier and more settled with above average temperatures mid-May, perhaps locally hot.

High pressure will remain a large and slow moving feature close to southern parts of the British Isles through the short-term period. High pressure will decline through the latter stages of April with low pressure expected to spread unsettled, windier and much cooler conditions through all areas. Low pressure is anticipated to continue to dominate the weather pattern close to the British Isles through the first two weeks of May, although cool at first, temperatures are expected to return to closer to the seasonal average in most areas. High pressure is then expected to build through the country with fine settled and much warmer conditions likely through all areas.
