The Month Ahead
30 Day Outlook

A very large area of high pressure looks set to remain to the east of Europe during the next week. This is going to have a blocking effect, slowing down the progress of weather systems moving eastwards through the Atlantic.

When high pressure builds over Europe in February it is always hard to predict its demise. We do though think that this week will see a gradually erosion of the high from the British Isles and Ireland, with a return to more normal west or south westerly conditions by the beginning of March.

It should be said though that there is still a very small chance that the high could hold on for a while yet!

Generally we do expect the weather to become more disturbed. There are no real signs of any prolonged dry spell in the month ahead, although it will turn colder and drier for a time.
