High pressure building in December
Our climatologists believe that this is probably the last week that we can use our present forecast pattern with any reasonable hope of success. It was described by one as being on its "last legs" in terms of credibility. Please bear this in mind when rea ding this forecast.
During the short term conditions are expected to be rather changeable. There is little to indicate a return of any major anticyclonic conditions until mid-December, when high pressure is still expected to build into the UK.
The lead up to the Christmas period is also expected to be mainly anticyclonic, although this is likely to be eroded away just prior to Christmas.
It is interesting to note that over the past few years we have identified the period from late October to early January as being the most difficult to predict in terms of this 30 day forecast.
