Dry in many areas. Cool to cold.
We have been highlighting the fact that high pressure is likely to be the dominant feature of the weather through the coming weeks. This weeks forecast is no different with high pressure always close to the country.
From time to time (as indeed this week) low pressure will drift down the North Sea, with winds from the northeast as the low clears.
There may be a spell of more westerly winds coming through mid March and this may last for a week or two. If these occur then there would be gales and heavier bursts of rain, mainly in the north and west.
Hints are that high pressure may build to the south or southeast late in the month, with a warmer, drier end.
