Monsoon Floods
Hard Hit Nepal

KATHMANDU - More than 300 people have died and scores of others injured since monsoon rains brought floods across Nepal last month, officials said Monday.

The home ministry said 46 out of the kingdom's 75 districts have been affected by floods since the monsoon began in mid-July.

So far 309 people have died this year in the floodings and landslides triggered by the monsoon in the 46 district as of Sunday

The home ministry also said several teams have been sent out to assess damage to physical infrastucture and provide relief to the flood victims. Thousands of hectares (acres) of farmland have also been inundated and 9,314 houses have been damaged. Annual monsoon rains have left hundreds dead and millions homeless in Bangladesh, India and Nepal.
