Extreme cold freezes Siberia

Europeans can hardly imagine how cold -20°C must be, but -58°C? Temperatures like this are turning life into a persistent struggle. Heating systems freeze, public transport fails and water and sewage pipes freeze. Truck-engines burned out, because their liquid cooling froze and so on. Mongolia is suffering an especially hard winter with extreme snow and temperatures around -50°C. Australia, on the other hand, suffers under a persistent heat wave with temperatures around 43°C, incredible more than 100 (!) degrees warmer than Siberia.
