MOSCOW, Muscovites on Tuesday braved through the biggest snow storm to hit the Russian capital in half a century as officials reported numerous traffic accidents and jams.
For the first time in half a century, we recorded blizzards that lasted throughout the day in every weather station in the Moscow region
a Moscow weather official told AFP. More than 13 centimeters of snow fell on Moscow as night struck Monday. WeatherOnline is predicting more snow to come over the next two days.
And the mood was positively grouchy Tuesday morning on the streets, with traffic at a standstill in the city center and accidents recorded by the minute. The Rossia television reported that authorities were thinking of asking students across the city to help dig out from under the snow.
