Wind and Rain Tonight, Gales in Places
If you read this column yesterday, you'll know I was warning of the risk of strong winds for much of England, Wales and Ireland tonight.
Well, that forecast has not changed much in the past 24 hours, with western Wales and southern England experiencing the strongest of the winds, although much of the countries will have gales.
At the moment gales should reach southern Ireland and southwest England during the early part of this evening. These then spread northeastwards, probably reaching the rest of Ireland, Wales, the Midlands and southern England through the early hours of the morning. Gusts may still be to 60mph in exposed places.
Accompanying the winds will be heavy rain, and again it will be the exposed coasts that see most of this. Local flooding is possible.
By the morning brighter weather will already be arriving in the west, but don't count your chickens just yet as heavy, blustery showers are set to affect all Wednesday afternoon.
Whatever the weather, keep the sun shining!
Simon
