High pressure building, here comes the sun!

It's on mornings like these, as I sit looking out of the windy onto an overcast sky, that it seems hard to believe that the sun will return, but that's exactly what's on the card during the coming week.

We need to get rid of some rain from southern Ireland, Wales and southern counties of England during Sunday afternoon and Monday night first, but once these have gone, high pressure should build over Scotland.

This sets the scene for some fine conditions during the coming week. The best of the sunshine is likely over the Midlands, Wales and Ireland, and we should notice it feeling steadily warmer as well.

There will be some cloud through Scotland on Tuesday and this might bring some drizzle or light rain around the west and north coasts. However, these won't last long and then Scotland should join the rest of the country in more sunshine come the middle of next week.

Of course the next question is, how long will the sunshine last? At the moment is does seem likely to be remaining fine through next weekend, although cooler, more unsettled weather may arrive the week after next. Of course, Weatheronline will keep you updated throughout.

Whatever happens, keep the sun shining.
