Rain for some, most in the north

As the weekend approaches I'm carefully watching our present area of high pressure to see if it collapses this weekend.

Certainly, the numerical forecast models from the main meteorological centres suggest that the high will be moving away, to be replaced by low pressure passing to the northwest.

However, I'm always one to argue and I must admit that I'm not convinced by this scenario. I suspect that what might happen is that low pressure could trouble Ireland and Scotland, whilst England and Wales remain mainly under the influence of high pressure.

So what does this mean weatherwise? Well, I suspect that on Saturday we'll see cloud and rain for Scotland and Ireland, this rain band moving into northern England in the afternoon. The rain will be lighter over western coasts of Wales and as it crosses the Welsh mountains it may fade away all together, passing through the rest of England overnight as nothing more than a band of cloud.

As for Sunday I'm expecting showers in Ireland and western Scotland, where there could also be showers and strong winds. For the rest of the British Isles sunny spells and plenty of dry weather is expected, although always a risk of a passing shower.

Whatever the weather, keep the sun shining!
