Becoming more unsettled for most

As the hurricane season continues in the United States, the resultant effect of the storms on the atmosphere of the British Isles can't be underestimated. These storms have huge impacts on forecasting at this time of year, and forecasts can change from day to day.

And 2005 is no exception. As each new run of the forecast models arrive, subtle differences can mean forecasts can change markedly. It also leads to me having low confidence in the forecasts.

At present the end of this week seems likely to become increasingly unsettled. By Thursday, rain will be affecting Scotland, northern England and parts of Ireland, with more rain arriving in the southwest.

By Friday an area of low pressure may deepen southwest of the country, and this may bring heavier rain across southwest England and Wales as well as northwest England. Local flooding is possible in places. It may become windy too.

BY By the weekend rain should be clearing slowly east, with brighter weather into the west by Sunday.

I'll keep you updated on this through the week.

Whatever the weather, keep the sun shining.
Simon
