Rain spreading east on Saturday

The weekend forecast continues to be uncertain, but it does seem likely that there will be rain for the west and north of the country.

That rain could be heavy at times through Ireland and the west of Scotland on Saturday morning, where it is also going to be windy. The rain edges into Wales, the rest of Scotland and parts of northwest England and southwest England on Saturday afternoon.

As the rain edges east it will fade from southern and southeastern parts of England, and so here it may well be dry throughout.

For Sunday, more rain will spread through Ireland and western Scotland, with low cloud and drizzle on western coasts of Wales. Elsewhere it should be dry with sunny spells.

Whatever the weather, keep the sun shining!
