Widespread frost last night

If you were out in the garden on Monday evening over many parts of England and Wales, you'd have noticed how chilly it felt. This led to a cold night, with record low temperatures recorded at one location in southern England.

RAF Benson, in Oxfordshire, recorded an air minimum temperature of 0C, the lowest there in June since 1962. As if that weren't cold enough, the temperature just above grass level at Benson fell to a bone chilling -5C.

Benson wasn't alone in recording a ground frost, with temperatures down to -4C at Shawbury in Shropshire, -3C at Nottingham, and even below freezing on the ground at Bournemouth Airport. You can see all of the minimum temperatures recorded last night by clicking here.

Tonight should not be as chilly although a ground frost could occur in some prone places.

Whatever the weather, keep the sun shining.
