Chilly August nights

Last night saw temperatures down below freezing in northern England, -1C at Redesdale amp in Cumbria and 0C at Eskdalemuir.

However, temperatures almost got low enough to give a ground frost over parts of southern England, with the thermometer dipping to 0.8C in Benson, Oxfordshire.

Tonight and Monday night could be another cold one with ground frosts in rural locations.
