Most rain in western parts next week

Our 30-day forecast has for some time called for high pressure to be dominating the weather through most of October.

I'm reluctant to change this forecast as each run of the computer models from the main atmospheric forecast centres has successively tried to breakdown conditions to a more unsettled weather pattern.

I do suspect that there will be some cloud and rain affecting parts of Ireland and Scotland, but for much of England and Wales the weather will be more settled. That doesn't mean that I'm ruling out the risk of drizzle or light rain completely over England and Wales, just that any rainfall amounts would be very low.

I can't put more detail on the forecast at the moment, but hope to have more for you over the weekend.

Whatever the weather, keep the sun shining!
Simon
