Flooding Risk as Rain Hits

I'm carefully watching an area of heavy rain which is moving into Ireland and western Scotland today. This is going to be bringing as much of an inch of rain here this afternoon.

During this evening the rain passes eastwards and will put northwest England, west Wales and southwest England at risk of flooding. Overnight, these places may see 30 to 50mm of rain, and when added to already sodden ground, roads could quickly become flooded.

The rain will pass through the Midlands, southern and northern England through Tuesday, and whilst still a few heavy bursts mainly in the north, it will become a weakening feature.
