Bad news for farmers and growers
Whilst for most of us the onset of high pressure in summer brings good feelings of barbecues and ice-creams, spare a thought for those who rely on rainfall to maintain their livelihoods.
Farmers over much of southern and eastern England are now watching closely as the period of dry weather continues for the coming days. We are now at a critical time of the year for growing, with some crops starting to mature and relying on rainfall to give them strength in their stems.
Looking ahead the high pressure is forecast to be staying with us for the coming days. However, eastern parts of England, especially East Anglia may get a little rain through Friday, although this not amounting to very much, probably no more than 1 to 2mm.
Apart from that there is no real breakdown in conditions, although I do suspect that we might be looking towards some thundery showers breaking out next week.
Whatever the weather, keep the sun shining.
Simon
