A change this weekend

After the fine weather for most of the past few days, no doubt your attention will be turning to the weather this weekend?

Well, it's not looking as settled as one might hope I'm afraid. The area of high pressure responsible for the fine weather is, temporarily at least, slipping away to the southwest. This will allow low pressure to move in from the north. At the moment the low pressure is forecast to cross Scotland on Saturday, and then into southern England early on Sunday.

This will bring an unsettled weekend for Scotland. We can expect rain here during Saturday, although more showery rain for Sunday. I think that the low crossing over England and Wales on Sunday will trigger a few heavy showers, these perhaps merging to longer spells of rain at times. It may be feeling cool as well, with the winds from the northwest.

The good news is that high pressure is forecast to build from the west again next week, and if this happens we'll be in for a return to the fine conditions by Monday or Tuesday.

Whatever the weather, keep the sun shining.
Simon
