Is it really May ?
For the third morning in a row temperatures have fallen below freezing over a widespread portion of the country. At Benson, in Oxfordshire the air temperature has been down to -3C overnight, with -1C in Birmingham and 0C in Bournemouth. To see a list of all minimum temperatures click here.
There may be a slight frost across parts of central and northern England as well as Scotland tonight, although this should be the last frosty night for a while.
After that, eyes start to turn to the weekend. During Thursday I do expect winds to be increasing through the English Channel and southern parts of England. Low pressure is deepening in the Bay of Biscay, and will be moving northwards pushing rain and cloud into the south.
This looks set to bring a wet afternoon to southern England on Friday, with the rain edging north into Wales, southern Ireland and the south of England through Saturday. Winds through Friday could reach gale force in exposed southern areas.
Im still not sure exactly how far north the rain will progress, but at this stage I think that an area south of Dublin-Manchester-Norwich is likely to see mot of the rain.
Sunday should see the rain fade slowly from the south.
Whatever the weather keep the sun shining!
