The north wind 'doth blow
Things look set to be turning much colder again next week as northerly winds return to the British Isles and Ireland.
The transition starts to take place through Sunday afternoon as a cold front pushes southwards over Scotland. Following this will be much colder air, straight from the North Pole.
The front clears southern parts of England on Monday afternoon, and so by then the whole of the UK and Ireland will be back in the colder air. There is a risk of some sleet or snow showers over the higher ground of Scotland.
There is a chance of a widespread frost through Monday night into Tuesday morning.
The good news is that the cold air won't last too long, as by Wednesday we might be back into milder southwest winds. It may be much more unsettled too.
Whatever happens, keep the sun shining.
