One Day on and The Cold May Be Back
Those of you who read yesterdays column will know I held my hands up and admitted that my forecast of the cold weather returning mid-January had gone somewhat awry. However, I did hint at the end of the feature that I had spotted a hint of colder weather returning again by the end of the month.
This morning's charts are again picking up on this possibility, and given the GFS models track record in highlighting the cold outbreaks during December, I am happy to follow the guidance of this model. Interestingly the Canadian model has also now highlighted the winds returning to the southeast and high pressure building east of the British Isles, backing up my thoughts.
So, this morning, I'm thinking about the possibility of cold weather returning during the middle part of next week. It probably won't start off too cold, although the increasing east wind is likely to make it feel cool. It will probably be towards the end of next week that things turn significantly colder.
I'll keep you updated over the coming days but for the time being, keep the sunshine shining!
Simon
