Dense fog on Saturday morning

Temperatures last night got no lower than 12C in, amongst others, Belfast, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Liverpool. A very mild night and record breaking in some places.

Across the English Channel, France has had widespread, dense fog this morning (Friday morning). Very low visibility caused by the dense fog has affected almost the whole of northern France, and that air is on its way northwards to affect England tonight.

The coming night seems to be bringing the risk of widespread fog across much of central, eastern and southern England.

It is going to be turning fairly misty quite quickly during the course of this evening, and then after midnight, the fog will be forming.

By Saturday morning visibility may be below 200m in many places, and this will be making for dangerous driving conditions. If you are planning on travelling early on Saturday morning, it might be an idea to allow some extra time to reach your destination.

The fog should be clearing from many inland areas after breakfast time, although coastal areas will be at risk from fog throughout the day.

Whatever the weather, keep the sun shining!
Simon
