Wimbledon fine, then mixed, then?

It's been a fine start to Wimbledon fortnight, with temperatures into the mid-twenties for the past couple of days.

Conditions should stay fine for Wednesday and Thursday too, although after that, the weather does not want to play ball!

A warm plume of air, developing over northern Spain, will drift northeast through France over the next 48 hours. This reaches the south of England on Friday morning, and is expected to trigger showers or thunderstorms and the All England Club through Friday. These could be fairly heavy.

The problem we forecasters have though is deciding if and when the showers will fall, and at what time of day. It may be that they miss the Championships altogether.

Next up comes the problem of forecasting the weather through the weekend and into next week. I currently think that conditions will be staying fairly showery on Saturday and Sunday. It should be cooler on both days. Into next week the shower conditions persist through Monday. A general improvement on Tuesday, but I do think that for the rest of the week there is a risk of a shower at any time.

This forecast is likely to change, so don't expect any miracles, I'll keep you posted with the latest information.

New Balls Please!
