Snow for many, cold for all!
Here it comes then, the first significant snow fall of the winter. The computer models are changing subtly at the present time, but are consistent in their belief that cold weather is on the way.
On Thursday much colder air will be streaming into Scotland, bringing outbreaks of snow. Rain will be pushing south through England, Wales and Ireland, turning increasingly to sleet and snow at higher levels through the day. Strong winds and gales follow into Scotland.
By Friday bands of sleet and snow are likely to be affecting much of the coastal regions of the UK, with eastern coasts particularly affected. Here we could see several centimetres of snow becoming accumulated. Most places sheltered from the winds, such as the Midlands, will escape the worst of the conditions, although it will be bitterly cold here.
Latest indications are that it will be staying cold at least through the first part of next week.
Whatever the weather, keep the sun shining!
Simon
