Windy weather ahead, but warm

Its a changeable week ahead, with low pressure bringing unsettled weather and rain, then weak ridges of high pressure building, bringing some very mild weather for some parts of the country.

In te short term well need to prepare for some strong winds tonight. A developing area of low pressure to the west of Ireland is going to be bringing some rain and strong winds to much of England and Wales over the next 36 hours.

A further area of low pressure then develops for Wednesday, this one passing close to western Ireland, and bringing more strong winds to the west. Heavy rain is likely over the west of Ireland.

However, with the winds from the southwest, the air is coming to the British Isles directly from the tropics, and this is good news, at least for England and eastern Wales. The air will be drier here and so as the sun comes out we are expecting it to become very warm.

By Wednesday afternoon, temperatures may reach 24C in London. However, thats no the end of it, because more warm air will be moving in through the end of the week, and if that arrives we could see highs of 22 to 27C over much of England and Wales by the end of the week.

Keep everything crossed!
