Cold blast on Thursday
I've been warning for several days of a change in the weather on it's way this week. Well, get ready, because the change is on it's way on Thursday.
Two cold fronts are going to be making their way southwards through the British Isles on Thursday. It is the second of these fronts which is likely to be more active, generating an area of squally rain and bring an abrupt fall in temperature.
The coldest air will be pouring into Scotland by midday on Thursday, this reaching the whole of England, Wales and Ireland by the end of the evening. Ice may become a problem in Scotland as the cold air arrives in the afternoon, together with heavy snow showers.
Snow showers for most coastal areas during the night into Friday, and then Friday will see further snow showers around the coasts. Some of these could be heavy with as much as 10cm over parts of the east. Bitterly cold in the wind.
Whatever the weather, keep the sun shining!
Simon
