A soaking 24 hours

The moist tropical maritime airflow that has bathed the British Isles and Ireland in the past day has certainly brought some heavy rain.

Capel Curig, a high-level station in north Wales has recorded 71.0mm of rain to 7pm Tuesday evening, with Spadeadam in Cumbria registering 58.0mm in the rain gauge.

The west has taken the brunt of the rainfall, although even in the Midlands rain has been heavy. The weather station at Nottingham received almost 34mm of rain.

The bad news is we will probably see some more heavy rain in western areas during the coming week and so flooding is likely. For the latest information keep checking back regularly with Weatheronline.

Whatever the weather, keep the sun shining!
