Snow on the way

Like water down a plug, cold air is draining southwards through the British Isles and Ireland today. As I type this forecast on Thursday morning snow is already falling over the higher ground of Scotland.

The colder air will arrive in southern England by this evening. Ice is likely to be forming on the roads, so if you are traveling overnight do bear this in mind.

The highest risk of snow is likely to be across northern and western Scotland, northern and eastern Ireland as well as western parts of Wales. There could be as much as 10 to 15cm of snow on the high ground of Northern Ireland and Wales.

Snow showers are also likely over northeast England and East Anglia on Friday.

Whatever the weather, keep the sun shining!
