Heavy rain update

I'm here at the Weatheronline Weather Centre keeping a close eye on the radar pictures this morning.

Heavy rain is alreay affecting western parts of Ireland and southwestern Scotland, and it sees likely that with a brisk southwesterly wind blowing, further heavy rain is likely through the day.

We could see as much as 25mm, or an inch of rain across parts of western and southern Ireland through Wednesday, with as much as 50mm of rain affectign southwestern Scotland. There is lso a risk of some heavy rain affecting the higher ground of northwest Wales, such as snowdonia, where Capel Curig has already received 7mm of rain in the six hours to 7am this morning.

If you are planning on driving in these regions during the next 24 hours you are advised to check the forecast and take extra care. There will be plenty of surface water on roads and pavements.

Weatheronline isthe ideal place to keep informed. You can see the latest rainfall totals by clicking here or look at the latest high resolution radar pictures, updated every 15 minutes here.

Whatever the weather, keep the sun shining.
