Gales and heavy rain on Thursday
This is an early warning of some strong winds and heavy rain which is expected to affect much of the British Isles and Ireland during Thursday.
Low pressure will be passing northeastwards through Ireland, forcing some strong winds ahead of it. Gales will be moving into Ireland, southwest England and southern Wales in the morning, reaching the rest of Wales, Ireland and western parts of England by midday. Towards evening the gales transfer into Northern Ireland, northern England and parts of southern Scotland.
Heavy bursts of rain will be tied into the winds as well. The rain shouldn’t last too long, although may give 5 to 10mm in a short period of time. Most of the rain across southwest England, Wales, Ireland, northern England and southern Scotland.
There will be plenty of surface water on roads and pavements, so do take care if you are travelling.
Do bear in mind that the location and path that the low pressure area takes will be critical t the severity of the weather affecting the country. Therefore, we may need to change this forecast.
We’ll be monitoring things here at the Weatheronline Weather Centre and will keep you up-to-date with the latest information as we get it.
Whatever the weather keep the sun shining!
