High pressure dominating
This is a crucial time for our long range forecast. For some time now we have been predicting a rise in pressure during the early part of October, leading to a period of fine and settled weather.
The coming week does look more unsettled though just now, with low pressure bringing southwesterly winds and bands of rain eastwards through the country. The rain could be heavy at times.
By the beginning third of October pressure is still forecast to build and this may bring fine conditions for a time, although frosts overnight.
The high pressure is expected to dominate through the middle part of October and through until late in the month. There may be a brief period of more unsettled conditions before high pressure builds again later.
