Mixed weekend for most

After the storms of the past 24 hours in some parts of the country, I thought I'd take a look ahead to the weekend, and see if summer will be returning.

The good news is that there will be some warm sunshine through most of England and Wales, as well as eastern Scotland on Saturday. Fairly cloud in the morning for most, but the cloud should break with sunny spells coming through.

Not so good for western Ireland and western Scotland through Saturday though, as a risk of heavier rain moves in here. The east should be drier.

Onto Sunday and a band of showery rain passes over northern, central and southwestern parts of England and Wales in the morning, this probably not reaching East Anglia and the southeast. Showers follow for the west of Ireland, but eastern Ireland and Scotland shouldn't be too bad.

Overall, not a bad weekend. Live8 and the Wimbledon finals should both be dry.

Whatever the weather, keep the sun shining!
Simon
