Windy with showers, feeling cold
As the weekend approaches parts of the British Isles will be blasted with colder air front the Arctic. We call this airmass Polar maritime, and as it's name suggests that's because it has travelled from the North Pole, across the warmer waters to the north of the UK.
The result of this travelling is that showers are formed, and these become heavy. This will be the case for Saturday when most places, particularly Ireland and northwest Scotland will be windy with heavy showers. Those showers may become heavy and thundery at times, tending to reach the south of England in the afternoon.
Sunday sees an early improvement, although it won't be long before thicker cloud, drizzle and rain affecting west and northern Ireland as well as Scotland and then northern England in the afternoon.
Whatever the weather, keep the sun shining!
