High pressure builds, sunshine on the way
After an unsettled few days, which will have brought rainfall totals back to normal for the month of July over much of the country, the weather looks set to settle down again, at least for a short time, during the coming week.
Some parts of the country have seen almost 4 inches of rain in the past week, a welcome relief for farmers and gardeners alike.
I'm now watching a ridge of high pressure forecast to build from the west during the early part of next week. This ridge of high pressure should bring at least a couple of days of warmer, sunnier weather for most of us. Most favoured spots for the warmth will be southeast and eastern parts of England.
A band of showery rain may pass eastwards on Tuesday, mostly troubling Wales, Scotland and western parts of England, but with high pressure continuing to build, the front responsible for the rain will be weakening all the time.
I'll have more for you in the morning.
Simon
