New Year Showers in the South

As you practice Auld Lang Syne today, most revellers in the north won't need a brolly, but if you are in the south or west it may come in handy.

It seems that the coasts of Wales, southwest England and most of Ireland are likely to have showers, most of them fairly scattered and tending to fade after midnight.

For more southern and central areas of England there will be a few showers, especially early in the morning. These should die away through the early hours with some clearer sies following, perhaps leading to some black ice on untreated roads.

And it may be a briefly chillier day on Sunday as the winds become northerly. Eastern parts of Scotland and England are likely to have the coolest weather, although nowhere near as cold as previous days. Highs probably around 5C along eastern coasts and tending to turn colder through the course of New Years afternoon.

Have a wonderful New Year and keep the sun shining!
Simon
