However, here's our first weekend outlook. There might be some minor hitches, though. After a long summer-break things are still a little bit rough around the edges. Well, some skiing areas in the Alps already have pretty good conditions. Among the best ones are the Austrian glaciers. Hintertux reports 110 cm at resort level and 220 cm on upper runs and conditions at Pitztal (170/320) and Kaunertal (150/210) are quite promising. As it is in the Engadine, Switzerland - St Moritz reports (50/220) and good conditions. Most resorts in France and Germany are still closed. In Italy there are some places in the Valle d"Aosta. The Southern slopes of the Alps had some heavy snow recently, when the rest of Italy was flooding. After a thawing Friday with up to 4°C in 3000 m a.s.l. there is some snow expected for Saturday in Switzerland and Italy, especially from Piemont to the Engadine.
