Very high confidence (90%) for next week to be dominated by high pressure giving predominantly dry weather in all areas.

During the rest of the week high pressure will remain centred to the NW of the British Isles with a moderate northeasterly wind setting in over England and Wales. Scotland and northern Ireland look like having a lot of dry weather with plenty of sunshine and turning warmer with temperatures in the high teens centigrade. Still risk of ground frost overnight. England and Wales will also stay dry and bright but eastern coastal areas south of the Wash could become more cloudy and rather cool. Away from the east there will be plenty of sunshine and it will turn warm here with maximum temperatures rising into the low twenties centigrade by the end of the week.
The outlook for the following week beginning 12/05/02 with moderate confidence is for it to become warmer and remain fairly sunny but with a 25% chance of thunderstorms and hot conditions spreading north into the SE as time goes on.
