Tuesday 06/07/04 to Wednesday 07/07/04
After what seems like an age of unsettled weather, Wednesday is currently looking much better, as a ridge of high pressure extends across much of the UK. The best of the sunshine will be across Ireland, Wales and western areas of England. Parts of Scotland, and perhaps eastern England will have rather more cloud around, with showery rain in the extreme north-east. It won't be greatly warm, as winds will tend to be north to north-westerly, but they will be fairly light. By Thursday however, low pressure will begin to attack once more, but this time from the south. East to south-easterly winds will become prominent in southern and eastern parts, and will become fresh later. The high pressure will still ensure that much of Ireland, Scotland and northern England remains largely dry with some sunshine. However, across Wales and the rest of England, showers will break out during the afternoon, and one or two will be on the heavy side. Temperatures around average everywhere.

Thursday 08/07/04 to Friday 09/07/04
On Friday, an area of low pressure will pass close by to south-east England, giving an easterly flow across all parts. These situations in the summer time can lead to some excessively high rainfalls, and at the moment this may indeed be the case. Central and south-eastern parts of England will be rather cloudy with heavy and persistent rain, with embedded thunder possible. The rest of the UK and Ireland will have some sunshine, but also a scattering of heavy showers. Feeling cool everywhere. As the low pressure rolls northwards on Saturday, the heavy rain will transfer to northern England and eastern parts of Scotland, where again it may be very heavy indeed with the risk of localised flooding. Winds will become fresh to strong north to north-easterly, and it will feel particularly cool. The rest of England, Wales and western Scotland will have a good deal of cloud with scattered showers, but much of Ireland and Northern Ireland will be dry with sunny spells.

Saturday 10/07/04 to Sunday 11/07/04
The more prolonged rain will become confined to north-east Scotland on Saturday, as another ridge of high pressure builds in from the south-west. This will give much of Ireland, Wales and south-west England a dry day with sunny spells. However, there will always be the risk of showers, and this risk will be higher across Northern Ireland, western Scotland and remaining parts of England. Feeling cool in brisk north-easterly winds. Unfortunately, even the fine weather in the south will disappear on Sunday, as yet more rain piles in from the west, heavy at times across Ireland and western parts of the mainland. Feeling particularly cool in fresh north-westerly winds. Eastern parts may have some early brightness, but that won't last as heavy showers break out here in the afternoon.
