Wednesday 04/06/03 to Thursday 05/06/03
A bright start to Wednesday across many parts, with spells of sunshine for much of Northern England and Scotland. Across southern England and Ireland however, there will be spells of rain, sometimes heavy and these will work their way northwards. One band of rain will cross into eastern England, with the odd rumble of thunder likely, whereas another spell of rain will transfer north across western parts. Scotland will stay bright and warm, as the south will turn brighter in the afternoon with scattered showers. Overnight and into Thursday, rain will clear northern and eastern parts, with clear/bright spells and scattered showers elsewhere. The showers will be heaviest and most frequent in the north-west, where strong south-westerly winds will develop. The south-east may remain dry with some sunshine, but into the afternoon cloud and rain will spread from the south-west, sometimes heavy. The rain will reach much of Scotland and western coasts of the UK.
Friday 06/06/03 to Saturday 07/06/03
Friday will see weather fronts continuing their progress eastwards, spreading rain to eastern England by noon. The rain will linger in the south-east and East Anglia for much of the day, but behind this skies will brighten from the west. Despite a good deal of sunshine, fresh westerly winds will bring a number of heavy showers almost anywhere, possibly thundery. Southern parts of Ireland will also remain rather cloudy with spells of rain. Temperatures above average for many. By Saturday, the rain will still plague south-eastern England, thundery rain possible at times. Elsewhere, a brighter day, still with scattered showers however. Showers will always be most frequent in the north and west, with some central areas remaining dry.
Sunday 08/06/03 to Tuesday 10/06/03
Sunday looks set to remain rather unsettled, although with lighter winds expected, rather more in the way of dry weather. There will be showers around, especially in the north-west, but these will be slow moving. There is a degree of uncertainty about the start of next week, but after our spell of unsettled weather there is just the hint that conditions will begin to settle down once more. Pressure patterns suggest the building of high pressure to the south, giving spells of sunshine and increasing temperatures, more especially to England and Wales. Scotland and much of Ireland will maintain the lion's share of any showery rain, but even here there will be pleasant amounts of sunshine. Further detail on next week in our next weekly update.
