High Pressure is Back! Sunshine Mixed With Cloudier Spells.

Friday 04/07/03 to Saturday 05/07/03
After our rather unsettled spell, conditions will begin to turn summery over the weekend. During Friday, there will be a lot of cloud around with some light rain in the far east. During the afternoon, high pressure extending from the south-west will increase the sunshine across western parts. Sunny spells will also break through occasionally in the east, but there will also be one or two showers here. Temperatures a little below average, leading into a chilly evening away from the east coast. Into Saturday, high pressure will extend to all parts, so more in the way of sunshine. Still rather a lot of cloud in the east, and the odd isolated shower can not be ruled out. Light winds will allow it to become warmer than of late, especially across central parts of England and Wales. Remaining dry with clear spells overnight, so turning chilly with mist in sheltered valleys.

Sunday 06/07/03 to Monday 07/07/03
Another fine day for most parts on Sunday, with plenty of sunny spells. The cloudier skies that will have plagued eastern parts will clear, and some inland parts may see several hours of unbroken sunshine. Feeling warm, with temperatures reaching the mid twenties Celsius. After a bright morning across Ireland and Northern Ireland, fronts edging slowly from the west will bring cloudier skies, even with a little rain in the evening. Light winds everywhere, although becoming fresh southerly later in the west. Overnight and into Monday, the band of cloud and increasingly fragmented rain will spread slowly to the mainland UK. Behind this across Ireland, skies will brighten, and ahead of the cloud across central and eastern England, some warm sunshine to be had. Many places once again becoming clear overnight, with the exception of central England.

Tuesday 08/07/03 to Thursday 10/07/03
High pressure looks set to influence the weather right through the new week, although there will be complications. Many places will see sunny spells, and temperatures will slowly increase from day to day. There will be weak bands of cloud and light rain, which at this stage are difficult to forecast. It does look as if one such band will cross southern parts later on Tuesday and through Wednesday, and by Thursday thicker cloud will run across Scotland. As ever, the devil is in the detail, so fine-tuning of this forecast will be in the next update.
