Tuesday 06/01/04 to Wednesday 07/01/04
Saturday morning will be pretty wet across eastern parts of England and eastern Scotland. The rain, some heavy, should nudge away slowly into the North Sea however, although some parts may stay rather grey. Elsewhere, there will be plenty of dry weather around, although not a great deal of sunshine. Western Scotland and parts of Northern Ireland will also have some scattererd showers, with blustery winds. Overnight, central and eastern parts of the UK will be rather chilly with frost in places. Ireland and Northern Ireland will become cloudy though with rain spreading east. On Wednesday, south-westerly winds will freshen right across the UK, with gales developing through the Irish Sea and round the coast of western Ireland. Patchy rain will spread eastwards across England and Wales, but with further, heavier rain sweeping across much of Ireland and western Scotland during the day. Staying mild though, despite all the weather
Thursday 08/01/04 to Friday 09/01/04
On Thursday, outbreaks of heavy rain are expected to clear from the east coast during the morning, with sunny spells developing. Another band of cloud and rain will march steadily across southern parts of England and Wales during the afternoon though, heavy at times. The rest of the UK and Ireland will have a straight forward day of sunny spells and blustery showers, some heavy with the risk of thunder. Strong south-westerly winds will continue, reaching gale force in the south-west. Overnight, rain will sweep across all parts from the south-west, with clear spells and showers following. Friday will be another bright and breezy day with sunny spells. There will also be a rash of heavy showers, more especially in western parts where the south-westerly winds will be at their strongest. During the afternoon, thicker cloud and further spells of rain will come into southern Ireland and south-west England, although the exact timing of this is currently uncertain.
Saturday 10/01/04 to Sunday 09/01/04
Apart from a few scattered showers in western parts, mainland UK will have a mostly dry and bright day on Saturday, with plenty of sunny spells. Much of Ireland will become cloudy through the day, with outbreaks of rain spreading east on freshening south-westerly winds. Most of the rain will be light, although with heavier bursts in the west. This will spread across the rest of the UK overnight, but turning lighter and more patchy in the east. On Sunday, many parts will remain unsettled with further outbreaks of rain sweeping across the country, followed by sunny spells and showers. For those who like seasonal winter weather, this coming week isn't for you, but for those who like it mild, and you can manage to keep dry, enjoy!
