Weekly Outlook : 06/10/03-12/10/03
A Stormy, Autumnal Outlook! Wind and Rain Across Many Parts.

Monday 06/10/03 to Tuesday 07/10/03
A cloudy Monday morning in parts of southern England and East Anglia, with spells of rain at first. This will clear away by early afternoon, then the south will have sunny spells and scattered showers. Elsewhere, a bright day with sunny spells, the best of which will be across south-western parts. Showers will also develop, heavy at times. Scotland and Northern Ireland will have gale force winds and frequent showers, with hail, thunder and snow over the mountains. More organised rain will spread across Scotland at times. Wind and rain will persist in the north overnight, becoming somewhat drier with clear spells elsewhere. By Tuesday morning, much of Scotland will be very windy with gales or even severe gales, and spells of heavy rain at times. Elsewhere will be windy with some bright weather, but a fair number of heavy, squally showers as well. Later in the day, cloud will increase across south-western parts with further rain by evening. Cool everywhere.

Wednesday 08/10/03 to Thursday 09/10/03
Remaining very windy across all parts on Wednesday, with gales continuing in nothern Scotland. After early rain clears away, much of southern and south-western England, Wales and Ireland will be mostly dry with sunny spells. There may be a few scattered showers, but the bulk of the heavy, blustery showers will be in Northern England, Northern Ireland and North Wales. Parts of Scotland will have more persistent rain at times, with a good deal of cloud. Overnight, rain will sink southwards affecting many parts of England and Wales during Thursday. Winds will potentially reach gale or severe gale force in the north once again, and in Scotland there will be plenty of heavy, squally showers. Showers also across Northern Ireland and northern England, these filtering into Wales and the Midlands later as the rain sinks southwards. There will be brighter spells at times in between the showers. Cool in north-westerly winds.

Friday 10/10/03 to Sunday 12/10/03
With such an unsettled week in the forecast, the forecast for the weekend currently has a low confidence. It does look at present that Friday will be another very windy day, with showers blowing across many parts, most frequent once again in the north. England and Wales should generally see fewer than of late, and showers elsewhere, along with the winds will ease overnight. During Saturday, a ridge of high pressure is expected to drift in from western parts, giving a mostly dry, settled day across Ireland, Wales and much of England. Eastern Scotland and eastern England will still see scattered showers at times. By Sunday, this settled weather will have transferred to eastern parts, but only in time for further weather fronts to spread in off the Atlantic from the west.
