Monday 07/07/03 to Tuesday 08/07/03
High pressure will ensure that many parts of the UK will have a fine start to Monday. The south and east will have the best of the sunshine, possibly unbroken in places during the morning. For most of England and Wales, the sunshine will last through the afternoon with temperatures in the low to mid twenties Celsius. Across western Scotland, Ireland and Northern Ireland cloud will steadily thicken from the west. Rain will follow to these parts through the evening and overnight, some of it on the heavy side. Into Tuesday, the cloud and patchy rain will have moved into Northern England and North Wales, while southern and eastern parts have another fine, sunny morning. The latter will remain so for the afternoon, joined by Ireland and the far North of Scotland with sunny spells. Northern Wales, England and Southern Scotland will remain cloudy with showery rain, this spreading northwards once more into the evening and overnight. Warm in the south, cooler under the cloud and rain.
Wednesday 09/07/03 to Thursday 10/07/03
South-eastern parts still remaining under the influence of high pressure, hanging on to sunny spells for much of the day. A declining picture elsewhere however, with more in the way of cloud. Northern parts will still be plagued by the residual cloud and patchy rain, but at the same time further fronts will move slowly off the Atlantic to affect Ireland, and later the western coasts of the UK mainland, with some outbreaks of rain. Only Southern England will remain dry and bright into Thursday, whereas most other parts will see a good deal of cloud and some outbreaks of rain. The heaviest rain will be across Ireland and Northern Ireland, spreading into western Scotland and Wales with strengthening westerly winds later. Remaining warm in the east and south-east, turning cooler everywhere else.
Friday 11/07/03 to Sunday 13/07/03
Rain, increasingly light and patchy will spread to eastern parts during the morning, lingering in the south-east for much of the day. Elsewhere, a brisk westerly flow will bring brighter skies, with sunny spells. There will be frequent showers in the north-west, spreading inland during the day, some heavy with thunder. Perhaps some central areas remaining dry, although feeling cool everywhere. The weekend looks set to be a north-south split. High pressure returning to England and Wales, with sunny spells although rather a lot of cloud. Fleeting fronts will spread cloud and rain across Northern Ireland and Scotland from time to time, interspersed with showers. Windy and cool here, becoming warmer again in the south.
