Weekly Outlook : 09/02/04 - 15/02/04
High pressure dominating, with plenty of sunshine!

Monday 09/02/04 to Tuesday 10/02/04
Monday morning will be cold and frosty for much of England and Wales, but there will be plenty of sunshine around. The showers along the east coast will mostly die out, then many places will have a dry day with plenty of wintry sunshine, and feeling less cold with lighter winds. For Ireland, Northern Ireland and Scotland, it will also be predominently dry, but with rather more cloud around. Northern and western parts are at risk from some patchy light rain later as well. Overnight, many places will be cold and frosty, but staying rather cloudy in the north-west. Tuesday will be another bright but cold start across England and Wales, but thereafter it will be dry once more with plenty of sunshine. Ireland and Northern Ireland will also have a largely sunny day, but will be somewhat milder with freshening southerly winds. The north of Scotland will be rather cloudy however, with further spells of light rain and drizzle, especially during the afternoon.

Wednesday 11/02/04 to Thursday 12/02/04
Another cold, frosty start to Wednesday, and patches of fog will be stubborn to clear across central parts of England and Wales. All places will have a mostly bright or sunny day, with any thicker cloud across Scotland breaking up readily. England and Wales will be rather chilly all day, but much of Ireland and Scotland will be milder with fresh south-westerly winds. Overnight, fog will return to central parts, with mostly clear skies elsewhere and a touch of frost. On Thursday, there will be very little change, with glorious sunshine for many parts. It will feel positively spring like for many, although it will still feel rather chilly in central and eastern parts. During the afternoon, western parts of Ireland and Northern Ireland will cloud over with the risk of patchy light rain and drizzle later.

Friday 13/02/04 to Sunday 15/02/04
For England and Wales, Friday will be another dry, sunny day as high pressure remains very much in control. Much of Ireland and Scotland will stay dry, but thicker cloud will give patchy light rain and drizzle in western and northern parts. Staying chilly in the south-east, milder elsewhere. Very little change on Saturday, with more fine, spring-like conditions across England and Wales. The rain will tend to pep up across Northern Ireland and Scotland however, although still with some bright or sunny spells. There is the sign of a gradual break-down for southern and eastern parts on Sunday, as a band of cloud and weakening rain spread slowly from west to east. However, there is currently a high level of uncertainty about this, and more details will be given in the next weekly update.
