Turning Very Windy In NW With Rain. Mostly Dry/Bright S&E.

Wednesday 10/09/03 to Thursday 11/09/03
Wednesday will start off cloudy for many parts of England, parts of Wales and Northern Ireland. Eastern England will see some rain for a time, but this mostly fizzling out. Across south-western parts, as well as much of Ireland and Scotland, a fine morning with good spells of sunshine. This continuing into the afternoon, at ths same time cloud across Central England and Wales gradually thinning with some brightness. Warm in the south, rather cool where it stays cloudy. During the evening and overnight, cloud and rain will spread into south-west Ireland and Cornwall, and by dawn on Thursday this rain will have spread to many western parts. Into the afternoon, heavy rain will affect much of Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Northern England, the rain lighter and more patchy further south and east after a bright morning. The winds will also become very strong indeed, possibly touching gale force through the Irish Sea later, but strong everywhere.

Friday 12/09/03 to Saturday 13/09/03
During the early hours on Friday, north-westerly winds will reach gale force across many north-western parts, with a rash of heavy showers. During late morning however, the showers and the winds will ease as a ridge of high pressure spreads from the west. During the afternoon, all parts of the UK and Ireland should be dry with good spells of sunshine, especially in the south. Feeling warm here, but the breeze across northern parts taking the edge off the temperatures. By Saturday morning, further weather fronts will be spreading across western parts, bringing some outbreaks of rain. Most of this will be light, but heavier bursts are expected in Northern Ireland and western Scotland. Winds will once again become strong, gusting to gale force in northern parts of the Irish Sea. For the rest of England and Wales, a lot of cloud around during Saturday, but some sunny spells as well. Feeling warm and humid here, but still rather cool with the weather activity further north.

Sunday 14/09/03 to Tuesday 16/09/03
Sunday will continue a west-east split, with much of Ireland, western Scotland and parts of west Wales seeing a lot of cloud with mist and drizzle at times. Central and Eastern parts are expected to remain dry with some sunny spells. Fresh southerly winds will make it feel warm across all parts, possibly very warm in south-eastern parts. By Monday morning, more vigorous weather fronts will spread heavier rain in from the south-west, the majority of which again restricted to western parts. Eastern parts will see a little rain during the evening after a bright start, but not sufficient to alleviate the dry conditions. Finally, Tuesday will see a bright spell during the morning for many parts, before further wind and rain spread across western parts during the afternoon. Warm again in the south, about average elsewhere. More detail on next week's weather in the next forecast update.
