Sunday 15/01/06 to Monday 16/01/06
Eastern parts of England should have a dry and bright start to Sunday. Meanwhile, low pressure will be moving in across Ireland, with outbreaks of rain quickly reaching most of Ireland and Northern Ireland during the morning. Drizzly rain will also affect southwest England, Wales and western Scotland during the morning, with more extensive rain likely in the afternoon. For eastern England and eastern Scotland, it will be a largely dry, but increasingly cloudy day. Staying mild with winds coming in from a southerly direction. We're expecting a very different day on Monday, as high pressure ridges in across central parts of the country. Any morning rain across the south of Ireland and southern England will clear southwards, and the easterly wind here will ease. Therafter, most of Ireland, England and Wales will be dry with a good deal of cloud, but also occasional sunshine breaking through. There will be more cloud across Scotland though, and this could threaten patchy drizzle throughout the day in eastern areas. It will become chilly during Monday night with frost in places.
Tuesday 17/01/06 to Wednesday 18/01/06
High pressure looks set to dominate the weather during Tuesday, giving most of the UK a dry, settled day. After a frosty start, England and Wales will have plenty of sunny spells, and with light winds it will feel quite pleasant. Ireland and Northern Ireland will also be dry and bright, although a freshening southerly wind will pile in low cloud across southern coastal areas. For Scotland, morning fog patches will clear to leave dry conditions with some sunshine, although the Northern Isles will remain rather grey and blustery. The high will still be around during Wednesday, although as it pulls away eastwards, freshening southerly winds will affect most places. These mild, moist winds will give a good deal of cloud across Ireland, southwest England and Wales, with drizzle on the coasts. Northern Ireland will be brighter though, with more shelter from the wind. Across the rest of Scotland and England, another morning frost will lead into a dry day with some sunny spells. Perhaps the sunshine not quite as widespread as during Tuesday. Mild in the west, around average in the east.
Thursday 19/01/06 to Friday 20/01/06
Low pressure will develop to the west of Ireland during Thursday, with cloud and rain reaching most of Ireland during the day. This rain will spread to Wales, western Scotland and western parts of England after a dry start. The east of Scotland and England will escape with a dry day, although with increasing cloud amounts. Mild in fresh southerly winds across all areas. By Friday morning, rain will have reached all areas, and fresh to strong south-westerly winds will pile into western parts of the UK. The rain will clear from Ireland during the afternoon, with sunshine and blustery showers moving in behind. Staying mild, although becoming colder behind the rain in western areas.
