Wednesday 12/11/03 to Thursday 13/11/03
It will be a wet morning across much of eastern England and eastern Scotland on Wednesday, with some heavy rain at first. This will clear during the afternoon, leaving some sunny spells. For the rest of England and much of Wales, it will be largely dry and bright but with a few coastal showers. Western Scotland and much of Ireland will also have sunny spells, but with some scattered showers. Overnight, many places will become dry with clear spells, but cloud will increase in the west. On Thursday morning, much of Ireland and Northern Ireland will become very wet with strong to gale force winds. After a bright start, this rain will reach other western parts of the UK during the afternoon, with severe gales likely in the north-west. Eastern parts will stay mostly dry throughout the day.
Friday 14/11/03 to Saturday 15/11/03
On Friday, winds will touch severe gale force across northern parts, with the risk of disruption in places. There will also be spells of heavy rain for much of Scotland, Northern Ireland and northern England, although this will ease later. The rest of England, Wales and Ireland will be windy with sunny spells and showers, heaviest in the west. Overnight, winds across the north will gradually ease, and it will become dry in the south. On Saturday, Scotland and Northern Ireland will have blustery showers and sunny spells, but for much of England and Wales it will be a bright, breezy and mostly dry day. Ireland and south-west England will become rather cloudy later with the risk of patchy light rain in the evening.
Sunday 16/11/03 to Tuesday 18/11/03
Rain will cross from the west to affect many parts during Sunday, although there will be some brightness in eastern parts at first. Westerly winds will become strong, bringing showers to western parts later once the rain has cleared. Rain will return to north-western parts on Monday, but elsewhere it will be bright with sunny spells and scattered showers, mostly in the west. On Tuesday, rain will sink southwards across all parts, never really clearing from southern England. Elsewhere, it will become brighter with a mixture of sunshine and scattered showers. More detail on this unsettled outlook in the next forecast update.
