Wednesday 16/06/04 to Thursday 17/06/04
The weather will become considerably more unsettled across much of the UK on Wednesday, as high pressure to the west and low pressure to the east force northerly winds across all parts. Outbreaks of rain, some heavy will slowly clear away from southern England during the morning and early afternoon, then most places will have sunshine and showers. The heaviest and most frequent showers will be in the east, where the northerly wind will be fairly strong. Feeling cooler in most places, even chilly in the north. On Wednesday, further cloud and rain will sweep across Northern Ireland and Scotland, after a dry and bright start in the east. For the rest of England and Wales, there will be sunshine and frequent showers, many heavy with hail and thunder during the afternoon. The best of the dry and sunny weather will be across Ireland and western parts of England and Wales, but it will feel cool everywhere in the northerly wind.
Friday 18/06/04 to Saturday 19/06/04
On Friday, the high pressure out to the west will nudge sufficiently eastwards to give much of Ireland and Northern Ireland a dry day with sunny spells. The northerly winds will still affect Scotland, Wales and much of England however, bringing a good deal of cloud and scattered showers. The showers will be heaviest in the afternoon, and will once again contain hail and thunder. Feeling rather cool in most parts, but more pleasant in the sunnier west. There won't be much change to the weather situation on Saturday, so eastern and northern parts will once again have plenty of blustery showers. The northerly winds will have eased a touch though, so in the sunshine it shouldn't feel too bad. Once again, the best of the sunny spells will always be across Ireland, Northern Ireland, and western parts of both England and Wales.
Sunday 20/06/04 to Monday 21/06/04
A band of heavier, more persistent rain is expected to work its way southwards across eastern Scotland and England on Sunday, and with the northerly wind continuing in will feel fairly chilly for mid-June. Across the rest of the UK, it will become mostly dry with some sunshine, the best of this across Ireland once more. During the afternoon, there may be a few showers across central parts of England and Wales though. At the moment, Monday looks to be the day that finally gets rid of the northerly flow, as low pressure nears western parts of the UK. This will encourage a much warmer south-westerly wind, but the downside of this will be outbreaks of rain sweeping across most places towards the end of the day.
